In family therapy, we will explore how well both parents are supporting each other in nurturing the children and in setting boundaries. We will explore how the parents develop age-appropriate expectations for each child and how each child collaborates with these expectations. We will examine how well the family interacts with support systems outside of the family such as extended family, schools, work and spiritual centers. We will also look at how your family is having fun.
Once we identify where hierarchy, boundaries and/or support are lacking, I will guide you to implement change in the sessions and between sessions. Family Therapy is like a puzzle where every family member holds a piece to the puzzle, every family member holds some power to make a change. Thus, family therapy can be an empowering experience for everyone involved.
